Where messages go

Messages are processed via OpenRouter’s free tier. The tier you pick (Fast, Balanced, or Thoughtful) requests a specific free model first (currently OpenAI's GPT-OSS 20B, Google's Gemma 4, or NVIDIA's Nemotron 3 Super, respectively), but if that model is unavailable the backend automatically retries with the others in turn, then OpenRouter's own zero-cost router, so a message can end up routed to any of these providers regardless of which tier you selected. Each provider sets its own separate logging and training policy; free-tier requests may be logged and retained by whichever provider ends up serving them. NVIDIA's free Nemotron endpoint, for example, currently states usage "is logged for security purposes and to improve NVIDIA products and services". See the current provider policy for that model .

Chat history is not stored locally. Refreshing clears the conversation.

Analytics

Aggregate engagement only - whether a chat was started, once per session (bl_chat_engaged). Message text, prompts, and responses are never sent to analytics. See the site-wide privacy page for what else is collected elsewhere on the site.
Firebase Functions logs request metadata (timestamps, status codes, a hashed IP) for debugging/rate limiting, retained 30 days (never your message text).
Rate limiting state is keyed by a salted hash of your IP address, not the IP itself, stored in Firestore in production, or in memory during local development.
